This is a poem about being only second best. |
| I watch her go for gold While i sit on the sidelines, watching I watch the others cheer her on And watch her climb to the top I watch her, my flesh and blood She, who has always been my friend I watch her become the greatest one of them all While I'm only second best I watch her, with everyone looking at her I watch everyone scream her name I watch as she becomes known by all While no one glances at me I watch, as she hugs me With tears streaming down her cheeks And a smile on her facec And I think, ashamed of my feelings How could I feel this way Even me, second best Should be happy for her, one of my own I watch my feelings Go from envy to pride She, my flesh and blood Has achieved her dream, has achieved her goal And I watch as the crowd goes wild Chanting, chanting her name again and again And I, who is only second best Start to chant with them |
