A Fleeting Moment

Just an afterthought, that small things sometimes last as long as large ones.

It was only for a moment,
just a breath along the way.
A hurt I'd thought forgotten.
Not important past that day.

But here you stand before me,
as I look into your eyes.
Those blue green depths
bring back to me
the pain caused by your lie.

As much as I would like to think
your words could cause no pain,
that once fleeting moment
left a stain.
