I Cried

I wrote this when I was in my teens after a very close friend of mine died suddenly.

I cried from that day on
After every sad and lonely song
I cried night after night
As if I couldn't win the fight
I cried for dreams of tomorrow
With hopes of no more sorrow
I cried for memories of the past
Although they seemed to be fading fast
I cried because you left my side
There no longer is a place for me to hide
I cried because I love you
I pray you love me too
Now I cry as I take my last breath
Soon we'll be together in our eternal death
