An underrated and over-scorned hero
they don’t want us to find. Hidden
in the faces of strangers,
songs of the dead,
prayers of the silent.

used to smother the incandescent light
which illuminates only those either ridden with the infection of faith
or renowned for their insanity.

An undeniable memory sears into the forefront of my mind,
a throbbing recollection of a storm -
the ebony sky scorched into a spectrum of white,
one silhouette sheltering my blackened remains with its ivory wings.

A crimson phoenix, giving life with blazing wings
eradicating doubt and hesitation.

Some do not know when they have found Her,
Cannot tell when She is shielding them
from the harsh realities of those trying to extinguish the message.
Life’s message.

You are not alone. It is with you.
