At Sea

Poem born of reflection at dawn

The sea is calm today
waters unbroken for miles
not a bird in the sky
and no fish beneath the surface

The sky above is lovely
the morning between night and day
the sun not yet showing
the moon has set into the deep

The stars are above
just lighting as they will
Venus shows not sparkling
the air is cool but there is warmth here

The boat doesn't rock
giving a moment to wonder
there was such a storm
but the winds have gone

The sail lies in tatters
still it would not matter
the rows lost in the confusion
only my boat and I remain

The sea is calm today
the view has done me good
still there is so much to do
i suppose i will have to fly
