A Piece of Life


While I was feeding my mantis with a pretty butterfly
Mommy got mad at me and let my mantis out
And when I saw a centipede crawling from a frog’s stomach
Mommy told me to help the frog out
And when I saw a note on the table
Mommy told me not to read it
And then I left her alone in the room
But Mommy said I’m not kind
So then I went to her
And for the first time
I saw her crying
Mommy held on to the end
Of my blue T shirt which
I still wear
