Grey Dragon

A bit of angst from a time in my life when I was looking for the path to where I am now.

Grey Dragon
 
It was the dragon’s ferocity that made me hold my breath
It was phoenix’s tears that brought me to life
I rose up from the flames of my burning heart
and walked into your ice cold view
The bird sung me a sweet song and I melted into your arms
but all the time, I only really wanted to run
I was so confused
And then you were gone
I never knew what I was missing until the flame was extiguished
The dragon turned to ashes before my very eyes and still, you were gone
I was so afraid you would never return
I was afraid I had scared you away
But suddenly everything I thought was true was no longer so
everything that was black and white became grey
The world was on its hinges
That is where I found the world belongs
