A description of the Kansas University campanile (belltower) not likely to be published. |
| Resurrection ‘04 It is aware this Easter day that it has stood for fifty years. This stiff erection, stone and steel, that grasps its very essence by the bells. No lazy gaze avoids its ever-presence. It is aware when silent or when chimed, snow-covered, redbud-framed, or dressed in frilled forsythia when bathed in moonlight or the night of stars. It is aware, this limestone thumb, softened by caressing leaves from walnuts in old Marvin’s Grove, of the stroke of dogs that paddle in old Potter's Pond, the fairy touch of jet stream cotton across a cloudless Kansas sky. It is aware that no Viagra's needed on this year's Resurrection day. Kåre Enga © 2004 11 april 2004 Note: a description of the campanile at the University of Kansas. Not likely to be published in any official brochures. Written at Easter, therefore the title. |
