As my child
the love I hold in my heart for you
is for you and you alone
I give it to you freely
and ask for nothing in return
It is a special love a father holds for a child
One that is both strong enough to endure a life time and to also let you go when you are grown

My respect for you as a human being
is guaranteed
My respect for you as a person
is a thing you must earn

Though my pride in you as my child
will never falter
My pride in your actions may

Try never to feel you must deceive me
For though I may be angered by the truth
I would be hurt by a lie

Always try to do what you believe is right
Never be afraid to be wrong
Always stand behind your beliefs
Never bind or suppress your love
Temper your anger with understanding
And find love for all God created
