I wrote this poem for my son, Shanon, who is in the Army and currently stationed in Korea. |
| My son is in the Army Proudly wearing his uniform for all to see, He trains hard to learn his job So he’ll be the best that he can be. He’s sworn to serve and to protect To fight for the God and country he loves, To give it all he has No matter the threat thereof. He looks beyond himself Knowing what he was born to do, And each day finds all the strength To dedicate his life anew. He honors our flag proudly As she waves her red, white and blue, Remembering all that has been sacrificed for her Each generation through. ~ He sadly leaves behind family Hoping that they’ll understand, That he must do his part To protect the freedom of our land. To help insure that future generations Of which his own children are a part, Will be able to enjoy our beautiful land called America With pride filling their hearts. ~ My son is in the Army Saluting proudly the country he serves, Knowing he will give her his all For no less does she deserve. |
