The Swimmer

This is about one of my friends...yes this really did happen to her.

Standing on the block
Ready to fly,
The whistle sounds
And away she goes.

The diver unaware
Of the things around her.
Dives in again
On top the swimmer.

The silence
Of the crowd,
Watching, wondering
If she is ok.

Up she comes
To the surface.
With help
She gets out.

She attempts to move.
The pain is strong.
She cannot move.
Her back is broke.

Today she is fine,
As good as ever.
Recovered from that day,
When the diver landed on her
