As love consumes the mind
And devours the soul
As feelings find their way to words
For the first time
All that comes from it is cold solitude
And realizations of inadequacy
What was once love breeding pity
Pity giving way to resent
Resent leading finally to hate
Three simple words destroy a friendship
As reality sets in
Condemned to your own personal hell
Bound by the chains of regret, jealousy and insecurity
A heart once filled with love
Now turned dark as ash and cold as ice
Hopes of the resurrection of happiness become dashed
Dreams of the future replaced by night mares of a dark and lonely past
