It is my pleasure to read your poem, " All Hallows' Eve." Congratulations on your 10th WDC Anniversary!
Message/Theme: The message about Halloween is that it's spooky, especially at night where all the scary creatures come out or so to speak. Especially, the kids love dressing up in creepy costumes for trick and treating.
Narrative/Style: The narrative sums up Halloween and all its glory. Is there such a thing as goblins, who knows, but it's fun to make-believe.
The style is horror/scary, holiday, and Children's.
Form/Flow: The form is a hexaduad with an aa, bb, cc rhyme and has six ryhming couplets.
The flow flows with the author's thoughts as she creates this poem.
Tone: The tone is celebratory with playful and whimsical take on Halloween, and what it's all about.
Mood: The mood is eerie, magical, and ominous as all these costumes come out and hopefully scare people.
Imagery/Pace: The imagery of "Inky silent shadows write from stripped limb gallows" sets the tone of this poem.
FAVORITE LINE:
A moan, a shriek,
sentinels speak.
Squeals, shouts, laughter echo.
Spirited goblins crow.
Tricksters believe.
All Hallows' Eve.
JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION:
I like reading this poem. For your first time creating a hexaduad, it is well done. Children love to be scared, I know I did when I was a kid and I think you captured Halloween in as few words as possible.
Write On!
Take care now, keep on writing, I’ll keep on reading,
