Greetings, Bobric!
This is pretty good. I've only entered this contest once, so I know how difficult it can be to write something entirely in dialogue (at least for some, anyway), but you seem to have it down. And you hit the nail on the head about having to host Thanksgiving dinner! Seems like that's the only time of the year when families come together just to get into a big argument so they don't have to talk to each other until the next Thanksgiving!*Laugh*
Great spelling and grammar, but I did see one tiny niggle (sorry to be so picky):
"The neighbor's dog nearly took my leg off(,) yesterday.” (don't need that comma there, but I think you know that)
Otherwise, great job!
