What an interesting topic for a puzzle and your affection for chickens is apparent in that you named them. How sweet! We used to raid chickens for food when I was a kid and my friend has chickens, that she loves, and gets great eggs! She lost a few to a fox last year and was not happy. There were some sweeties in there.

Your introduction is a wonderful tribute to these birds and you leave me hanging wondering about the cool stories you have to tell. Maybe you could have included one. Hey, now we have you could decorate it up and add some colour to make it pop even more.

The names you chose to use are so cute and entertaining. eg.Ashtray and Doodad! So creative and it would be fun to see why you chose the names for them. Such personalities I bet.

The puzzle was a challenge! The first one I found was Beelebub and the last Rose, but the tricky one was RASH (secondlast one I found} as all the letters were already blocked out from crossing other words. LOL Good fun! Of course , others puzzlers would have different experiences. LOL
