![]() ![]() ![]() A fascinating story, and since I wasn't at all familiar with the background I appreciated your detailed descriptions not only of the characters and the scene but also of the customs. I could imagine it all really well and thanks to all the information you included, I not only understood what was going on but also why. The main characters were well drawn and there was something very genuine and serious about their attitude towards each other, towards nature and the strangers that invaded their home. The way you described the approaching riders was well done and it was obvious that Tatsuwa had no idea what he was looking at but to the readers it was still clear. It was interesting to read an account like that from the point of view of someone who didn't know what it was and you did a really good job getting that point across. The same applies later in the scene where the Chief was shot; again, the descriptions were excellent and worked well. The cloud seemed to be a metaphor rather than an actual cloud, a forewarning of bad things to come, and it made sense that only the two main characters could see it, or at least perceive its threat. It was quite powerful that Tatsuwa knew that the danger hadn't gone for good and decided to pass on the warning to others. I enjoyed reading this story; it was an unfamiliar genre for me but I feel I learned quite a bit and at the same time it was an entertaining read. ![]() ![]()
