| Late! Poetry for a prompt |
| ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Review from The WDC Angel Army. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Overall Impression: Heyyyyyy! don't knock 'biscuits, gravy and grits' which would taste perfect right about now as I read the Poet's words of extreme frustration and anxiety because 'the alarm clock did not go off". Unlike other poems by this Poet, the mood of this short poem is scrambling, rushing, grabbing, doing whatever it takes to get to the job on time; Many negative instances shake up the environment including 'a strange huff' 'no lengthy shower' 'wretched clock tic-tocking' as she watches the clock which makes her feel even more nervous and rushed. The reader gets caught up with the anxiety of the Poet and rushes faster and faster through the poem as if the reader is on the clock at the same time. The dear working woman of the poem is most frustrated "it's the pits' because there is no time to make those 'biscuits, gravy and grits' so what's a girl gotta do to get through the day...suffer?
