| High School Ruined my Creativity A rant about why I'm growing to despise English class more and more |
| Hi D Greene! I'm sorry you had such a miserable experience with your high school English class, but I cannot agree with you. I believe it was your teacher. From my own experience I had a great time in English. In fact, my senior year English teacher, from whom I also took Creative Writing, was my favorite teacher of all. I will agree with you that young writers should be able to 'go out on their own', as well as learning all and everything they want to about the writing process. They should be able to create their own 'voice'; after all, what would be the purpose of 'writer's license' if we had to stick strictly to perfect grammar, etc.? I've read thousands of books where some authors just make up their own words and 'do it their own way'. And you know what? Some of those writers are the most famous in the world. In short, D, I hope you won't let that high school experience take you down. You do have talent, as shown by voicing your opinion here. Don't let it spoil your dreams-you had them once, you can have them again. Stick around this place and you'll find a new experience that I KNOW you will enjoy! A couple of minor niggles: '...it's a well know(n) fact.' 'I no longer no how to write' (know) Kee ponw ritin gon, D, and welcome top WdC!
