Hi HLKasting!
For being so short, this is pretty good! You obviously have a great imagination, and you've shown it here. The concept of bonding with a dragon is certainly unique, and the idea of having to have the dragon bite you is great!
Not sure how this did in the contest, but it looks like winner to me!
Great spelling and telling, but I did see on niggle:
"Well," Lauren asked as she closed (the) gate and checked the locks..."
