| God's on my side too A oem about discrimination and negative attitudes |
| Title: God's on my side too Author: Andy Type: Poem I like the first two lines: I may be blind, but I can see You hide behind hypocrisy It is to the point, and the rhyme is chosen well since it fits naturally and not contrived to make it it fit. It just fits together well. Lines three and four don't fit as well, the 10-syllable line three just seems too long to be the companion of the six syllable line four, and it reads a little awkwardly because of that. The second stanza builds upon the first. There is an issue between the speaker and the one he/she is speaking to. The speaker feels slighted, that the other person feels superior to him/her. It is a reminder that he/she is as good as this other person. There seems to be a lack of respect and I am not sure who may be more at fault here, so I can only read and accept the version that the author gives me. From the author's words, it appears this other person has a bit of an attitude, mainly a little arrogant. In the end it reads like a poem more about humanity than any one person specifically. To me it is about getting along with other races, nationalities, and those who are different. It reminds us that God does not favour one person or people over others (though some certainly try to claim so) but that we are all equal and have the same right to freedom and peace.
