Title: Only the Sidewalk Knows

Author: amandagriffin

Type: Poem

I think the sidewalk will have a little trouble knowing anything since it is just made out of concrete. *Bigsmile* I'm just kidding, I know what you mean: that it is a question that has no answer. To me, this poem carries a degree of sadness. It seems to ask questions of a fleeting nature, wondering if there is something more than the transience of life.

While I'm not really into personifying the sidewalk, I can appreciate those questions, primarily as a way understanding our place in the world and whether it has any meaning beyond the temporal. We are, after-all, those footprints that come and go, and when gone, it would be good to know that there was some relevance to us being there. Your poem seems to suggest that the importance is in the moment, that you re where you are and it is the present moment that matters. It's as good a way to question our transient nature as any other way, I guess.

It's a thinking person's poem, and even though I'm not a thinking person (I barely even have a clue, lol) I enjoyed reading your poem.
