Hi InsanityInduced Author Icon
I carefully read your story, here is my review.
Please remember, I'm a writer just like you and these are only my impressions. My ultimate goal is to be helpful and supportive. Thanks for sharing your work.

*BurstBL*OVERALL SENSE: I hate spiders too, actually terrified of them. Now that I've read your story, which, by the way, gave me the creeps. But, you do tell a scary tale very well. The whole story made me sit up and take note of each word. From the opening paragraph to the conclusion, I was spellbound. Huge hairy spiders with fangs would have given me a heart attack for sure. Now, reading about a spider paralyzing you so you stay is a terrifying thought.

*BulletV*TITLE APPEAL: "Paralysis" is the title that made me curious enough to read so good job. You didn't give away too much with this title because a little mystery is always good.
Because this story was "Written for "What's Your Nightmare? Round 8" Contest", this makes this story special because it's a 'spur of the moment' approach which is always good for an author to do.

*BulletV*STYLE/VOICE/MESSAGE: The style is horror/scary which delivered. The voice stays strong throughout as the main character finds himself in the most scariest of positions. You built upon this fear until the very end. Good job.
The message is loud and clear in this readers eyes. Don't kill spiders, they'll get their revenge. Gently release them outside. Which may be a good idea, come to think of it.

*BulletR*SCENE/SETTING: The scene and setting come into play in the main character's bedroom. He's asleep and awakens to his worst nightmare. First seeing the spider and later, a revenge begins.

*Woman**Man*CHARACTERS: Human versus spider is what is going on in this story. You usually know what the outcome will be, but you painted an entirely different picture.

*Thought*PLOT: One human against eight spiders or more. Not really sure what the odds were, but you served up a great story that I don't want to give too much away for others to enjoy.

*BurstG*GRAMMAR/SPELLING: I found a few errors that I would like to bring to your attention.
even if their harmless the mere sight of them sends shivers down my spine-- even if they are harmless or even if they're harmless would be correct.

*BurstP*AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: NONE

*BulletR*LIKES: I liked the way you wrote this story. I found it to be well-written and it grabbed my interest immediately.

*BulletR*DISLIKES: There wasn't anything I disliked about this story.

*BurstB*FAVORITE LINE(S): Yes, I do have some favorite lines and would like to highlight them. I'll comment on why I liked them and how they added to the story.

*Cut* QUOTE HERE: *Cut* I don’t know what caused them to react as they did, maybe it was because I took my anger out on one of their companions earlier that evening, maybe it was revenge.

*Idea* My Comment: I love this description. It builds upon the storyline, moving the story forward into the next scene.

*Cut* QUOTE HERE: *Cut* I jumped up in disbelief that the spider had somehow repaired itself enough to crawl away, but I knew that wasn’t possible.

*Idea* My Comment: This line lead into the next scene as to what happened to the crushed spider? Where is the telltale sign that it was crushed or not? Is this a dream or not? A lot of questions entered my mind as I continued reading.

*BurstR*JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION: Those descriptions of the spiders are scary. To think of sleeping with these kind of spiders in the house, this will never let me sleep again. I would constantly be on vigil, wondering where are they hiding. Thanks for sharing this item! I only review things that I enjoy reading and I truly did enjoy this piece.

My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Go NoticedOpen in new Window..

Take care now, keep on writing, I’ll keep on reading,
