![]() ![]() ![]() Title: The Usual Booth, Please Author: LauraP ![]() Type: Poem I know this isn't listed under comedy, but I can't help but see some comedic elements to it. Mainly it is because it's not the dainty image we usually see in a poem like this. Just the opposite: she drenches, doesn't use a napkin, eats with her mouth opens, sprays food particles, uses her sleeve as a napkins... as you can see, it's hard not to find a little humor there. Of course what you are trying to do is capture real life. We're not all as neat when by ourselves as we are when we are around people. I've used my sleeve as a napkin before but never among friends or in public, and you are showing that difference, how one is in private. There is a sense of relief from the narrator at the end, when she finally cleans the butter from her fingers and I presume, face. It's not a pretty picture, but it is a real one, I have been guilty of a time or two. I had to look up the Tritina, I'd never heard of it before. I do see that there are three words that end each line but that they change within each stanza. It actually looks kind of fun, but also demanding.
