She was walking ahead of me, like she always did. She always had to prove that she was better then me. I hurried to catch up, my feet catching on the uneven ground making me seem even more unsteady and young then I already did. Saiya wouldn't hurt Anandy would she? My heart skipped a beat, remembering my old friend. Or, could I even call her that any more? I had learned so much in my short time away from home, and the betrayal stung like a fresh wound, a knife stabbed through my heart.
"What are you going to do?" My voice was quiet, weak against the harsh wind.
"Shut up and follow," Saiya was taking no prisoners. She has changed so much.
"You can't hurt her, she's my friend" My voice stronger now, still shook with fear. Oh, and I had every right to. Saiya snapped around, murder in her eyes, anger on her tongue.
"Friend? She is nothing, worthless? Why can't you understand anything? You're just a stupid, naive nobody who had to follow me around! I don't care if she was your 'friend' or anything, she dies, tonight."
This new girl was foreign to me, an enemy where once stood an ali. Hurt stung my eyes, rolled down my cheeks. Her cackles of laughter hit deep inside of me. She turned, expecting me to follow just like I always did. I looked down, embarrassed. And that's when I saw it. The thing that was supposed to protect me, still clutched tight in my hand. It was if a demon possessed me, lifting my hand higher and higher. I was done following, I was done not understanding, I was done not taking charge of my own life. Saiya continued to walk, oblivious to the war raging behind her. I lifted the gun, and pulled the trigger.
