Chapter #6

Anger

They tied their horses to a low hanging branch on the side of the path and casually, somewhat cautiously - for who would be up at this early hour? - made their way to the cottage. Halfway down the walkway to the front door a loud crash and severe screaming stopped them in their tracks.

"Get up! Get up right now you lazy good for nothing! I told you that if I ever found you laying around, skipping your chores that you would be out!" Daniel and Isabelle fell to their knees with their hands covering their faces as a pan broke through the window.

"Ah, I don' need yo' scraps to eat and yo' floor to sleep on. I be fine on my own," another, younger voice yelled just as loud and crossly. The door burst open nearly falling off its hinges and a figure, apparently the owner of the second voice, stepped halfway outside, though not far enough to see any defining characteristics. Isabelle, grabbing Daniel's hand, pulled him behind some overgrown weeds so that they could see while goin unseen.

"How far do you think you will get in life? You have no proper training - in anything - you've never had any schooling whatsoever, you don't even speak well enough to converse with any of my simpler patrons."

"I'll make it far enough. I don't need no fancy schooling to make 'nough to get by. All I need know is how to work with my hands. I don't need you!" With this the figure stepped all the way out the door and Daniel and Isabelle saw that it was a boy aobut their age. The boy began walking along the walkway and a large bald man with a beard stepped through the door and threw another pan at the boy, who stopped and took one step tot he side just barely moving out of the way of the flying pan.

The man went back inside slamming the door, this time it did fall off its hinges and the man could be heard cursing his misfortune at ever giving that boy a job. Daneil and Isabelle watched the boy walk down the pathway still crouching behind the overgrown weeds. He stopped at the end of the walkway when he saw the horses tied to the branch.

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
