Missing Artifact

The door squeaked and almost fell off the hinges as Daniel pushed it open. He looked around, but all he saw was the darkness. As his eyes gradually began to adjust he faintly saw the outline of something or someone on the floor.

Daniel reached for the lantern hanging from the ceiling, but before he could turn it on the shadow in the middle of the floor spoke, "Don't."

Daniel lowered his hand and looked again to who had spoken. "Raven, is that you? Look I need you help on something."

"Shush, I know why you are here." Daniel just continued to stare through the darkness. "But first things, lets get some light in here. No leave the lantern off." Raven said to stop Daniel who was now once again reaching for the lantern. Raven waved his hand and the candles encircling him ignited.

Rubbing his eyes to help them get used to the sudden light, Daniel saw before him the same old man he had visited every so often now sitting with his legs crossed surrounded by candles and, though Daniel felt he may have been imagining it, levitating a few inches off the floor.

"Have a seat Daniel," Raven motioned to a spot on the floor in front of him. "Now, I know why you are here and I believe I can help you."

"You can!?" Daniel was ecstatic. "But how? When? What do I have to do?

"Relax Daniel. I can help you but it may take longer than you would hope." At that Daniel's heart sank, he wasn't sure if he could wait much longer. "You see there is something I need in order to do what you wish, but it will take me awhile to get it. However, I have come up with a solution, one that should work to your advantage." Daniel once again perked up. "I need a specific artifact; however, long ago it became part of a treasure. This treasure can only be found at the end of a perilous quest. Now the way I see it is, you and the young lady set off on this quest together. It will give you time to be alone and if when you return you still need me to give you two a day alone, I will then have what I need to do so. Though I can't go with you I can still send assistance your way. What do you think?"

Daniel just stared, trying to comprehend what Raven had just said. Finally he decides to...
