"Mario!" Peach called out when she noticed her red clad hero.
He couldn't believe his eyes. He knew Peach was in her castle before he and his brother wound up on the island. Yet from the tears in her dress, it looked like she'd been here for maybe a month.
With her was Pauline. The two had a history, but eventually fell out of love. Her own red dress had its own rips in it, but not nearly as many.
"Hey, Mario." The Mayor of New Donk City greeted. "Glad to see you got away."
"Pauline! Peach! Please! My brother! He's-"
"Safe. We saw them take you. Daisy went in after you."
"Oh, Mario!" The pink clad princess wrapped herself around him, struggling not to cry. "I'm so glad your safe."
He decided to take a moment to comfort her. If Daisy was here, Luigi was as far from trouble as he could be.
"Come on, Peach. We should probably show him where we've been staying."
Smiling gently, she quickly regained her dignity and made her way further inland.
