This choice: A Different Beginning, Please • Go Back...Chapter #7A Different Beginning, Please by: Hellexia Aaron didn't want to believe it, in a way. It was absolutely, entirely insane, but... his hand was definitely melting into a blue slime. He wasn't sure whether to be relieved, worried, or excited when, at a mere thought, the melting mass that was his hand reformed back to a more human sight. Just to be sure though, he repeated the process a few more times, mixing in a few cycles of making the same hand ghostly and back as well.
Aaron had, the previous night, been given a gift. Or, an apology, technically. He'd heard the latest rumors about Wilko shuttering and it didn't really bother him until the rumor of his store shutting down reached him. With the possibility of a steady paycheck removed, he did what he usually did in stressful situations. For better or worse, after getting a serious case of "the munchies" as a result, he left his apartment and, while taking a shortcut through a park, was practically flattened by an extraterrestrial visitor's vehicle.
Aaron couldn't remember all of that night after the little "fender bender" with the aliens, at least not first-hand. But he did have incredibly vivid memories from another perspective from that night, his hands oddly feminine and blue instead of his usual ones. Every other figure was, literally, a walking censor bar however. And every bit of language he could discern was what sounded like text-to-speech English, usually saying things about "reconstituting his body" and other things he really didn't understand.
Once Aaron had woken up, he had a massive, massive migraine while memories he recognized as being artificially inserted, courtesy of another memory "telling" him that. But by the time he'd managed to finish his morning shower, the migrane was gone, an understanding deep inside that his experiences were real in its place. And thus, using his new memories as a guide, Aaron spent the rest of the morning in his apartment walking, floating, and slithering around, testing the powers he already knew he had. And, unfortunately for his coworkers, he left for work, determined to practice his abilities on some entertaining targets... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
