Corey was a good looking dude, there was no denying it. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, some stubble on his face, and a nice smile. He was probably about 6'0" Jared noticed as he looked Corey up and down. Jared couldn't really tell how fit Corey was, as he was wearing a dress shirt, covered by a jacket, but certainly looked slightly round in the middle, he thought, or maybe it was wishful thinking.
Jared wondered what this guy had that he didn't. He looked down at his body and certainly thought he had a more athletic build than Rachael's boyfriend, but he wasn't feeling particularly confident knowing this is Rachael's man and he is just her coworker.
"Nice to meet you," Jared did his best to try to be nice in his response to Corey.
"Let's get some food and drinks 'round here, huh? To celebrate Rachael's new job," he said, somewhat obnoxiously. But Jared smiled along as Corey gave Rachael another kiss. Alec looked over to Jared and could tell he was feeling some type of way about this whole display.
"She's hot, huh?" Alec whispered to his roommate. "You like her?"
Jared shushed Alec, even though they were not in ear shot of Rachael and Corey. "It doesn't matter, she has a boyfriend," he replied under his breath.
Alec sipped his beer and shrugged. "He doesn't seem that great."
Jared just looked over and sighed. "Don't worry about it. There's plenty of fish in the sea and all that. But who knows, maybe they'll break up. I mean you're going to be working with her every day," Alec suggested. Jared knew his friend was right as he looked over to the happy couple. They rejoined the two of them and Alec's coworker buddies.
"Everything alright?" Rachael says as Jared rejoined them.
"Yeah, all is great," Jared said with a smile and a sip of his beer. Rachael smiled in response and went to the bathroom to retouch her makeup. Jared tried to make small talk with Corey, who seemed like a nice guy but he was his nemesis when it came to Rachael.
The group had ordered a bunch of food and drinks, after all Alec and his construction worker friends could eat. Corey seemed to be taking the opportunity while Rachael was in the bathroom to shovel some food into his face as well. He was eating some nachos, with some leftover cheese dripping from his face. Rachael returned to the group as she saw Corey's face after coming up from devouring some nachos.
