The card said "Madame Marie" and gave an address in the city. Joey just looked it and it looked back to Alec, wondering if he would explain at all what it was.
"Just go there when you've got some time. Explain what it is you want, and she'll sort you out," Alec said, delivering it like some sort of Italian mafia boss. To be honest, he sort of looked like one too.
"Oh... okay," Joey struggled to respond. He thought this all sounded a bit strange but the earnestness in Alec's eyes won him over. He seemed to not be able to say no to anything that Alec asked of him.
"Don't be nervous little guy. You're never going to be a big man without some confidence and swagger like your boy," Alec laughed and patted his belly.
So Joey took the card with him and with his next day off, he decided to head to this mysterious place. It was a seemingly minimalistic storefront, he saw nobody around the shop when he walked in. It looked less like a psychic shop than he expected. As he entered further he only saw a bell on the counter, he assumed to ring for any attention. He nervously approached the bell and gave it a ding.
Suddenly a woman appeared from the back of the store. Marie, he assumed.
"How can I help you dear?" the woman said as she approached. She was in her fifties, Joey assumed, and sort of attractive for her age. She definitely gave off the vibe of some sort of mystic or witch, which made Joey a bit nervous.
"Um, I'm not sure," Joey said, looking away from Marie.
"Nonsense. Let me look into your eyes, dear. I will be able to tell what you seek," Marie said.
Joey took his averted gaze and looked at Marie in her deep blue eyes.
"Ahh, I see. I know what it is you want. Don't be ashamed dear," Marie said in her soothing voice.
Joey just continued to look into her eyes. He felt almost hypnotized by her gaze as she stared back into his green eyes. She put her hands on his face, feeling his slight stubble.
