Mowgli and Ranjan suddenly came across a tall tree that had a beehive at the top. A runoff of honey dribbled down from the top of the tree. Mowgli stuck his right index finger through the honey and licked it.

"What is it, Mowgli?" Ranjan asked Mowgli.

"This is honey, Ranjan. Right up there at the top of that tree is a beehive full of honey." Mowgli told Ranjan as he pointed to the beehive at the top of the tree.

"It's what bears like old Papa Bear like to eat. You remember his song about the Bare Necessities, The bees are buzzin in the tree to make some honey just for me. If we can get to the top, we can get the honey, bring it back to the Man-village, and maybe have a little for ourselves on the way back." Mowgli told Ranjan, who rather liked that idea.

"Let's do it!" exclaimed Ranjan. He made a run for the tree, but Mowgli grabbed him by the back of his loincloth and pulled him back.

"Hang on a second, Ranjan. Don't you remember that bees are very protective of their honey? If we try to get it, we might make the bees angry and they might sting us." Mowgli told Ranjan.

"Oh, yeah." Ranjan said unhappily. He then cupped his left hand to his left ear. He didn't hear any buzzing.

"I don't hear any bees." Ranjan told Mowgli. He then looked up.

"I don't see any bees, either." Ranjan told Mowgli, who cupped his own left hand to his own right ear and looked up.

"You're right, Ranjan. It's not like the bees to be missing in action." Mowgli told Ranjan. What neither of the boys knew was that earlier that day, Baloo was trying to get honey from that tree, and all the bees were chasing after him. Neither of the boys knew when the bees would return, so they decided to make their way to the top of the tree as fast as they could. All they needed as a plan.

What plan do Mowgli and Ranjan try first?
