You were confused by Jenny’s line of reasoning. Dave spoke up, taunting her, “Nice try freak. We already know you’re trying to scare us! You just admitted to it. We just won’t be scared no matter what you do. Stupid clown.” Jenny giggled and patted Dave on the head, “Such a cute kid, so naïve. Do you have any idea how fear-response works little guy?” Dave groaned and swatted her hand away, “No, and I don’t wanna find out. You sound like my teacher.” Jenny cackled and licked her lips with a serpent tongue, “Simply put, you humans have an innate fear-response to any and all potential predators. You’re hardwired to be afraid of certain things… like giant snakes, werewolves, dragons, a lot of monsters really.”
Dave wasn’t really following her but you were starting to get an inkling of and idea of what she had planned, and you didn’t like it. Dave snorted at her, “Yeah, so what? You’re a clown! You’re none of those things. Unless you’ve got all those monsters on speed-dial you’ve got nothing to scare us with.” Jenny smiled widely and poked Dave in the nose, “That’s where you’re wrong short stuff. Remember how I mentioned that I was a monster… a shape-shifter in particular?” Dave was about to mouth off to her until his eyes widened and he realized what she was getting at. He shrunk backwards, “Oh… uh, really?” Jenny nodded, “Yep, so I’ve got all those scary monsters on speed-dial and then some. Matter of fact, I think I’m in the mood of turning into…”
