As the fear left her veins, the scent of dragon now cleared from the air. Astrid was aware how strong her new equine instincts were. She'd have to fight to keep herself, her intellect in charge of this body. As a mare, she was terrified of everything.
Looking around she found herself in the middle of the herd. She felt thirsty and found herself walking towards the nearby river. It was intuitive, not needing conscious thought. Lowering her head to the water, she drank gratefully from the icy stream.
Catching her reflection in the water, she saw the same familiar piercing blue eyes, almost lost in that equine head. Still hauntingly human, and perhaps holding a way back. Or a trace of her humanity for recognition.
It would take a close inspection for anyone to notice that particular detail, Astrid admitted with some sadness.
Looking to the side, another horse tentatively approached the waters edge. Her new vision added to her fear, as Astrid was more aware of her surroundings. The field of view, so all encompassing. She barely had to move her head to see her broad flank, and equine rump. That thought sending her tail swishing in agitation.
The neighbouring horse snuffled at the water. Catching her attention, then Astrid spotted another detail. The golden eyes, were familiar.
There was a hint of a predator behind them. She recognised a transformed Stormfly, as her former mount recognised her rider. They nickered as the shared break-through, nuzzling, and rubbing their long, powerful necks together they shared their new common scent.
