She held the blade upside down, cutting herself...

Talking to Lisa as she worked, Marge spread the walnuts onto the board and attempted to chop them. Then Lisa turned sheet-white when she saw what her mother was doing. Lisa quickly diverted Marge's attention so that she was forced to look away, then when she turned back around, she screamed at what she saw. Marge had used the knife blade to cut into her hands, instead of the nuts, which remained whole. Every one of Marge's fingers on her right hand was severed and blood was more visible than skin. Lisa rushed to grab the phone and called 911, while Marge calmly sunk into a chair, seemingly unscathed......
