You understood what it said and were fine with it for now. You were much more interested in a coloring book and some crayons.
"I'm going out," your mother said. "Can you watch Jesse while I'm gone?"
"Sure thing. What about Jerry and Ariana?"
"They're coming with me. We'll be back late. Make sure Jesse is in bed by 8:30."
"No problem."
When your mom was gone, you called up Mark and John your best friends.
"Dudes," you said excitedly. "My mom is out. She's going to be out all day. Wanna come over and play?"
"She's out all day? You're home alone?"
"Well, I have to watch Jesse. But there is a basketball game on. I can just set her up in the living room and she'll watch it while we have some fun."
"Great, I'll be right over."
The conversation with John went in a similar fashion. You got ready for your friends' arrival. You took off what you wear wearing and put on a pretty My Little Pony tunic with some pinked leggings and cute matching socks. When you had gotten dressed, you saw about Jesse. She did indeed want to watch the game. She would be busy all day. You got her some chips with some soda to wash it down and set her up in the living room. It had the biggest TV. Jesse was enjoying herself.
In another room, you got out your Barbies with several outfits and one of her playsets. It was the newest one they had out there. You didn't think you would be playing Barbies all day, but it was a start.
Mark arrives, he was dressed in a flowery red dress with white knee-high socks and black shoes. John was wearing jeans with a skirted top and sneakers.
"Dudes, we are going to have so much fun. Come with me."
You showed them what you had set up.
"No, way!!!" Mark said after seeing your Color Reveal Barbie Mermaid Doll. "I had heard of these, but I hadn't seen one until now."
"I just got them. Wanna see them change color?"
"Damn straight!"
"OK, let me get some warm waters."
The boys played with the Barbies. They were having a lot of fun. You were having the most fun at all. You didn't know what was so much fun about watching a basketball game or any of the things that Jesse now did. You were considering never swapping back.
