You arrive at the school, and hold the skirt together as best you can. Fortunately, you remember that today you have first period free. You had planned to do some additional research on science project. But for now, you are happy to hurry off to the seclusion of the school library. There are some snickers and teasing as you pass other students in the hallway. Your hair is pulled back tight in a ponytail, and you adjust your glasses on your nose. Finally, you make it to the library.

Moving past the front desk, you find a table all the way in the corner. There does not seem to be anyone else around for the moment. You place your bag on the table, and take a deep breath, starting to relax. You are a clever girl, you can figure this out.

Going through your things, you find a safety pin and even a mini sewing kit. In no time at all, you are able to mend your skirt.

“There, that wasn’t so bad!” you giggle to yourself, and even kick your feet under the table.

Suddenly, two boys from your class enter the library. They see you, and start walking in your direction. One of them you recognize as a boy who plays sports. The other, you know from band. They are both kind of cute.

“Hey,” the first guy says as he walks up to the table and has a seat next to you. “We were wondering if you might be able to help us.”

The other teenage boy slides around and sits on the opposite side of you. They kind of scoot in close, and you begin to feel flustered. Nevertheless, you ask them what kind of help they need. You have never been the object of attention, and this is actually kind of flattering.

“How come you are so smart?” the band guy asks you. “Is it your glasses?”

Shyly you answer, “I don’t know… No, it’s not my glasses. I guess I just study… hard.”

The boys continue to make idle chat with you, and soon it is apparent that they are not interested in schoolwork. At one point, the one who plays sports even reaches out and touches your earlobe. It’s soft and affectionate, and gives you butterflies in your tummy. Yet some part of you also feels slightly uncomfortable, causing you to squirm in the middle. It is a terrible conflict of emotions.

“We want to play a game with you,” the guy in band tells you.

While you are enjoying their attention and flirting with you, something suddenly happens.
