Chapter #9

Lori Does a Grocery Run

by: The Grand One Author IconMail Icon
Lori frowned as she set about the task of cleaning her brother’s room. Lincoln had a system for what went where, as they all did, and his wasn’t too hard to figure out. The comics on the floor went on the shelf that already had comics, which she decided to arrange by title and numerical order. Normally she’d never go the extra mile in cleaning someone else’s room. However, she couldn’t take the risk of Lincoln tattling to mom that she did a bad job, as unlikely as that was. Lincoln was a good kid and leagues more patient than she’d been at his age, or ever for that matter.

This made sense, of course. Lincoln was prey living in a house full of predators that treated vore as a preferred means of showing affection. And since they all loved Lincoln, he’d basically been conditioned since birth to put up with that love. Thinking on that, Lori felt better about tidying up her brother’s room. He’d earned at least that much for putting up with the family. In fact, while dusting, she caught her hand lovingly cradling her swollen belly, which she quickly stopped and hoped he hadn’t noticed.

“Uh, you’ve been quite in there, twerp. Everything alright?”

“Hmm? Oh yeah. Just playing around on Susan’s phone. And before you say anything, I turned the brightness all the way down.”

“That’s still really bad for your eyes.”

“Actually no. She’s got the VoreLight app just like my phone. It’s supposed to let you look at the screen in the dark without damaging your eyes.”

Lori hummed thoughtfully. “Now that you mention it, I think Bobby has that on his phone. That would certainly explain the texts he likes to send from inside me.” She sighed romantically. “He’s so thoughtful.”

“He texts from inside you?” questioned Lincoln. “Is it too much effort to walk the zero feet to talk in person? Literally in person?”

“Ugh! You just don’t get it, Lincoln. Bobby-Bubu-Bear and I are in love and we have our own special way of showing it. Besides, he mostly texts pics of himself. We still talk the regular way.”

“I don’t think I know what regular means,” Lincoln joked.

“Yeah. Probably not,” laughed Lori in agreement as she regarded her work. “Well, I think that about wraps things up in here.”

“Done already?”

“Yeah. It wasn’t that much. You know, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you deliberately left your room a mess just to provoke mom,” she teased with a sly grin.

“Provoke mom on purpose? Seriously?” asked Lincoln in disbelief. “You have any idea how crazy that sounds?”

“Hey, sometimes people get in the mood for crazy. I don’t judge.” Lori shrugged noncommittally and left the room. “Now if you’ll excuse me, mom wants me to do a grocery run.”

“Hey, mind if I come with?” asked Lana. “Lola’s car has been making some clunky noises lately. I don’t have the parts to fix it, but there’s an auto shop near the grocery store.” The resident handyman of the house wore overalls, a red cap, and seemed to always be dirty. There was nothing on the outside to indicate that she was a predator as her body was pretty normal for a girl her age, but she was a voracious one, if a bit picky. She often demanded that her meals roll around in garbage, mud, or other gross things before she consumed them. As such, she had a very niche appeal to a select crowd.

“You know the rule.” Lori extended her hand. “You want a ride, you have to pay up. Favors or cash.”

“I need the cash for the parts. Got anything you need fixing?”

“Hmm. I suppose the drain in my room has been making some odd noises lately.”

“Deal!” Lana cheered eagerly and they shook on it. “Joke’s on you. I’d have done that for free.”

Lori smiled as she rolled her eyes. The two – technically three – boarded onto the lovingly named vanzilla and headed out.

“Hey, is that Lincoln in there?” Lana asked from the passenger seat.

“Sure am. Lori wanted me to get a volunteer’s phone from her belly.”

Lana gave the eldest sibling a deadpan stare. “Seriously? Again, I’d have done that for free.”

“Ugh! I thought it was Lincoln’s phone, which made it his responsibility to fetch. But since it isn’t, I’m turning the thing in for store credit the moment I expel it.”

Lana chortled. “You mean when you crap it out?”

“Language!” Lori snapped. “It’s better to say expel, or release, or anything that isn’t so, bleh, gross.”

“Wow, you really are off your game today,” observed Lincoln.

Lori sighed as Lana laughed. “Heard it the moment I said it.”

The rest of the car ride was uneventful. The girls split up at the parking lot with Lana being entrusted to handle her own finances. With the amount of volunteers they got, all the Loud sisters had been coached from an early age on how to handle money. Besides, Lana was a predator. No one in their right mind would try bamboozling her. Even if she weren’t, she was one of the best customers for DIY shops across town. They all knew her and were thankful for her business.

As for Lori, she walked into the grocery store and smiled contentedly as heads turned. Royal Woods was a small enough town where everyone knew everyone. Even if they didn’t regularly talk, they still recognized each other’s faces, and everyone knew who the Louds were. Being predators meant that they were like local celebrities. Many of said locals had even been clients of the Louds’ vore services. Just about everyone waved and said polite greetings as Lori went by, which she graciously returned. Even if a lot of it was fake, being born out of fear and ignorance, it still felt nice to be noticed.

“Excuse me, ma’am. Will you be needing help with your shopping today?” asked a young woman in a staff uniform. She was cute, maybe Luna’s age, with freckles and a nice figure to boot. Lori reflexively licked her lips at the sight of her, making the young woman smile anxiously.

“Hey, there’s no need to worry. I’m not gonna eat someone on the clock.” Lori closed the distance and wrapped an arm around the young woman’s shoulders. “That would literally be so rude. And besides,” she gestured down to her belly. “The space is currently occupied, Emily,” she read from the nametag.

Emily gave a relieved exhale. “Oh, well, that’s good to hear. I was a little nervous when my boss said I had to help a… you know.”

“Well you shouldn’t be nervous,” Lori purred as she pulled Emily close enough to touch cheeks. “Even if I did eat you, I almost never digest anyone who doesn’t volunteer for that service. Besides,” she quickly slapped her tongue against Emily’s cheek, “you’re the kind of tasty treat I’d hope to enjoy more than once.”

Emily gave an unintelligible series of chirps as her face turned beet red. No one had ever been so openly flirty with her before. She was broken from her stupor with a sharp pain in her backside. She turned around to see the predator’s fingers pinching into her butt cheek.

“Like I said, I won’t eat you on the clock. But the moment you clock out, well, I’m sure you can find me,” tittered Lori as she fluttered bedroom eyes at Emily. Afterwards, Lori had effectively conscripted the young woman as her servant. She read out from her list as Emily did the work of fetching things. This was a pretty normal scene when the Louds went out shopping as stores bent over backwards to accommodate them. They still paid for their purchases like anyone else. It was their job to control the population, not crash the economy, after all. But these added services were very much appreciated. No doubt Lana was getting a similar treatment for her shopping.

Then Lori noticed that things were a bit too quiet. “Hey, twerp. You still up?” She rubbed her belly to get his attention, but all she got was him shifting around and snoring. Lori gave a contented yet prideful smile. It was like the first times she’d put her other siblings to sleep all over again; an accomplishment mixed with familial adoration. Remembering that she was in public, she righted herself and finished her shopping. The cart was stacked almost as tall as her, marking this as only a light grocery run. She paid, thanked Emily, met Lana in the lot, and they returned home.

Now what? Keep following Lori, or try something else?
