I need to split The Children of Midian up into 2 books. Where should I end book 1?

As it turns out, The Children of Midian was really pure Middle Grade all along - the voice, the characters, etc. I've decided to split this puppy into two books, which means I need to figure out where to end book 1. I've thought of some options and would LOVE your opinions. Can you tell me which one or two you think would be best? Any comments you can offer would be much much much appreciated. Also, if you have another idea than what I've come up with, I'm all ears!

1.   End it as Elliot goes back into the shack(schoolhouse) on his way to fetch his sister from home.

(To end it here, I might add a bit more tension on the return journey from the mall & pit to camp - perhaps have them chased by some Garou or something, narrowly escaping - probably hook that into the Trick River Pass scene)

2.   End it right after Elliot returns to Midian with Maggie, and finds the Garou waiting for them.
