I enjoyed reading your post. You brought up some fantastic points.

It did look strange that Picard wasn't being cautious -- even Data offered to drive. LOL
I guess Picard was having a blast because it was his first away mission in a while.

Speaking of strange -- Troi did appear to be having trouble with something that she had been doing all of her life.

No mention of Lore!!! I wondered that same thing.

Even though the movie had it's weird scenes, I thought that it had more bite that just another TV episode. Shinzon (Tom Hardy) did a fabulous job, and the wedding party was exquisite.
