I agree with your agreement with me. Except
when you said Data breaking the Picard vs. Picard
stalemate wasn't a good scene. Picard could never
beat himself. Unless he had some advantage:

Shinzon was dying. Picard was old - and tired, no
doubt. They were, more or less, evenly matched.
Shinzon would have, eventually, overcome Picard,
though. He was insane. The power of crazy made
Shinzon very strong. Especially since he was
backed into a corner.

Data was just the breaker of a temporary tie that
could not have fallen in Picard's favor.

Data's death scene was inadequate, not nearly up
to the level of Spock's death. It should have been,
but wasn't. Not even up to the standard of Kirk's
death, says my friend.
