If you could change one law in your country, state, province, territory, or locality, what would it be? At first thought, I wasn't going to touch this question with a ten foot pole! Then, an answer came to me. The Speed Limits imposed on roadways. Five MPH over, nothing more, Ideally no MPH over the limit. Stick to the limit, it's not a suggestion after all. There are far too many people who drive way, and I do mean WAY above the posted Speed Limit. Maybe showing the offender some kind of proof, so it can't be challenged in court. Plus, Officers having one of those hand-held devices that can scan a credit/debit card? Paid immediately, points added to the person's record then too. I mentioned a way of proving they were speeding above. Other than that, you'd have to prove they were speeding. Radar guns, dash cams, heck I don't have an answer to that. But seriously, we need some kind of positive action taken. Those lawyers who defend perpetrators who do this should be shown the door and told to stop lying for the defendants (assuming valid proof of speeding is submitted in court). Now obviously I am thinking of a nation where this can happen, a sort of Utopian Society. I'd love to see this happen, but I don't think any Crystal Ball is strong enough for it to occur. Jim |
