Ok, so I'm assuming your template on the word doc has something like {user:} and {item:}, etc... The trick you're looking for with the new editor would be to Right-Click in the editor and then "Paste and Match Style". That will prevent the editor from double-bracing the { and } from the tags. If you don't "paste and match style" it converts them literally to braces, rather than ML tags.  So right-click to get the context menu... then, "Paste and Match Style". Then your new "edit" on the user tag to add the username will be to double-click the tag(s): {s-user: } <-- double-click it and add the user in the prompt.
