One of two things. Either I lie there, attempting to ignore the matter of sleeping (rarely works), or I get up and watch TV (works every time). The problem with the first method is that it most often results in staying awake all night. And the second method has the disadvantage of sleep in the wrong place, often inducing strange and unexpected pains from poor positioning. Experience has taught me that there is no perfect system for getting to sleep. The only comfort I can provide is by recommending getting older. With age the problem tends to transform into difficulty in staying awake. With practice, you'll find that you can sleep anywhere, in any position, and without warning. Just don't try to be in control - that ain't gonna happen. |
