What do you do with the other million? I would buy a parcel of land and have it zoned for a retirement community. Build one-bedroom bungalows with a den/spare room, a nice kitchen/dining area and a living room, and be sure to include a full-width front porch. Build the houses around a town centre with a dance hall, a pub, a grocery, a pharmacy, a bakery, a coffee shop, a community dining room serving 3 meals a day, and a small but effective medical centre for the residents. Fill it with greenery, walking trails, a dog park, bike rentals, an outdoor sports centre for bowling, darts, horseshoes, badminton, tennis, and maybe even pickleball.
