Ah. I have again bumped up against a turn of phrase that sounds innocent enough, but obviously means something else. I honestly thought that "pick me" means to be chosen to be on a team or to be the one who gets assigned a preferred task. I actually often say, "Pick me" when I want to be the one who is chosen for whatever fun there is to be had. Clearly, there is a sinister connotation to this phrase. I hope that reading the other replies will enlighten me. |
