Well, I don't know if this counts exactly - but Grades 2 to 9 were traumatic. We had a girl in class who targeted those who got better marks than she did. I was one of those unfortunate ones. She'd steal our books, tear up our homework when it was left on the teachers' desk to correct and so on. She stole money from anyone in class, too. The Principal, with some half-baked ideas of psychology, pretended she didn't know it was this girl doing it, thought it was obvious. So if we lost a text book or notebook from which we had to study for an exam, we'd be blamed for not having kept it properly. I spoke to another friend about it years after we left school and both of us agreed that his is a deep scar and hasn't yet fully healed even so many eyars later. |
