October Novel Prep Challenge

It's an amalgamation of Chinese terms. "Gui"(when not used pejoratively) is a type of spirit that is a neutral spirit that tends to be a little dark and deals with Yin energy. "Shen" are also more neutral and deal with light and Yang energy. Youkai are somewhat malevolent and found in both Japanese and Chinise mythology. I borrowed the last syllable from Youkai to make a portmanteau; Guishenkai.

Antagonist name is also a portmanteau of Chinese word "Han" meaning red and "Henhageshii" is a Japanese term related to being fierce. Two attributes that I hope to add to my antagonist.

Sorry, I lived most of my semesters in college with either a Japanese, Korean or Chinese roommate. Not sure but I think the people who assigned roommates in the "Global Village" dorms probably thought I was Eurasian.(part Asian part European) for 90% of the time I had at least one Chinese, Japanese or Korean roommate. Considering it took eight years to complete my Undergrad work, I had lots of contact with people from these countries and cultures. I studied Japanese for four years. Still in love with the cultures.
