I can't remember which birthday it was for, but my wife arranged a "surprise party" where we went out to dinner at a restaurant and there was a whole backroom full of friends and family who had shown up. It was the perfect birthday, which was a pleasant surprise, but no pressure and not a ton of pomp and circumstance. Just my favorite people sharing a meal together.
