Is it a mugging only if there's physical injury or loss of property, or does the mere act of accosting someone satisfy the requirement? If the latter then yes, I've witnessed a mugging: mine. Back in '74, a denizen of D.C. decided he wanted the bike I was kind of walking astride of (there were too many people on the sidewalk to actually ride it at that particular time), and we engaged in a short game of "Get off!" - "No!", "Get off!" - "No!", until he decided that too many people were watching the show. For anyone interested, the first part of this story - "Which Dream is Alive?" - is reasonably autobiographical up to the point where the young man - moi - rides away. After that, it's literary fiction. ![]() |
