Let's face it: Most TF fiction is written to scratch a fetish itch. Insofar as it becomes genre fiction, it dips into one of two modes: horror (identity theft, even if told from the antihero's POV) or comedy (farcical fish-out-of-water). BoM is the only work of TF I know of that seems more oriented toward character study as a genre: just spending time inside various characters' lives and heads. So, survey question I guess: Of the four attractions that BoM at least in theory offers (fetish, horror, comedy, character study) which do you come here for, and which do you wish it offered more of? |
